Tamer Elbaz, MD, is a board-certified interventional pain medicine physician and anesthesiology specialist at Pain Physicians NY in Midtown West, Manhattan. He proudly provides advanced pain management solutions to patients in the New York City area.
Dr. Elbaz’s passion for pain medicine started when he was in medical school, and he decided to specialize in that field. He completed his anesthesiology training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he was elected as chief resident during his final year of training – an honor granted only to the very best. While applying for fellowship training in pain medicine, he was offered many opportunities, but he chose to train at Mount Sinai Morningside (formerly St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center), affiliated with Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S), because it offered the best training in the field in the tri-state area.
He was then elected to be the Director of the Pain Medicine Fellowship Training program at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, where he trained many physicians on various treatment modalities for pain management. Dr. Elbaz currently holds a position as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at VP&S. He was also appointed as a New York State Pain Medicine committee member.
Dr. Elbaz has traveled the world lecturing and training pain medicine specialists on the latest techniques in the field. He has presented at many conferences nationally and internationally.
In addition, Dr. Elbaz has extensive knowledge and experience performing interventional pain procedures for acute and chronic pain syndromes. He is particularly interested in treating difficult and complicated cases, and is constantly in pursuit of the newest techniques in treating difficult conditions.
